So...maybe 3 months ago I sniped this 30-some year old Folklore off Ebay for $100.99. Moody sent it to The Mother Ship for me for a look-see, and Kim called today to say it's all finished.

It had developed that familiar headstock/neck joint crack line, had been repaired effectively, and then was set up as a nylon string. Kim surmises they thought due to the crack that steel strings were too much for it. They had put Schaller nylon string tuners on it, as well as refiled the nut for the nylon strings.

So Kim had the crew put steel string Schallers back on it, along with a new bone nut and saddle. Some binding repair and generous overall buffing. He says this old guitar has a HUGE sound! It feels VERY nice to give this guitar a new lease on life, and it came at $100.99! (...plus a new case, 2 shipping charges and the repair bill from the factory).

My collection now consists of 3 12-fret slotheads: the Folklore, my '79 Pacemaker, and my '97 Collectors. Proud owner of all.

John, you don't play well enough to have such good guitars! Kinda like me.

Just kidding. Congrats. Send out some pics and a review when you get it from the factory. I think you're going to really like this guitar. So don't cut any holes in the bowl of this one.

By the way folks, visiting with John on the phone I learned he's a really good guy, fun to visit with, and very tolerant of p.i.'s who let certain guitar cases sit in their living rooms too long before shipping them to the factory......

Congratulations, good luck with it.

When I got my Josh, the previous owner had it strung nylon. For like 20 years! They did not know it was designed for steel strings and bought it from the owner beofre that with nylon strings on it. Putting steels back on it was no issue whatsoever ... and yes, it too sounds huge.
