Thinking about adding an acoustic/electric bass to the collection. Play with 1 other guitar and vocalist. Recommendations?

Takamine TB240 or TB250. They are not cheap but really nice instruments. Particularly if you play out live, the electronics are top notch.

If they're available, fretless is the way to go!

I did a LOT of research on acoustic basses some time ago, and have purchased a few. My findings were that the USA made Ovation acoustic bass with a deep bowl, knocks all the others out of the park. Deep, full tone and clarity across the tonal spectrum, just as with ovation acoustic guitars. Nothing comes close. They are also very easy to play. The only one I was never able to try out was Kim Keller's blue Adamas, which I have heard is THE best.

it moved a few years ago from Mr Kellers celler to my humble abode.....and I would tend to agree that it is the best acoustic bass I have ever heard.

If you ever have the desire to part with that one, I hope you give me a shot at it. It matches my 1581. (;

If that is the one he had at the 2006-ish Fanclub Gathering near the Factory... then HOLY CRAP is that a nice Bass. I played it thinking "this'll be fun" and it was so amazing sounding that it kinda distracted me from what I was supposed to be singing.
