Joined: April 2012 Posts: 37 Location: Raleigh, NC | I am still trying to memorize (make sense of) the model numbering system new and archived. I am familiar with the older center hole deep bowl guitars, and have a 1614 and 1617. I like to fingerpick, and wonder if there has ever been an Elite made with 1 3/4 nut width with a Deep or Contour Bowl? Ideally, I would like to GAS for something USA made, but not so rare and precious. More along the lines of a gig instrument that would sound good unpluged around the house and at get- togethers. Thanks!! Edited by Matt12Fret 2013-01-28 2:16 PM

Composites are coming, and Rainsong has this 12 Fret "Shorty", but it looks like a conventional wood box guitar that's painted black - uninspiring and plastic. I have only seen the pic of the UTE in the archives. Wow, a 12-fret non cutaway with a slothead and the 1.75" nut? Looks sumptuous, and if it sounds like it looks, what a blues box. Wish they had made more than a few. It seems they're rare. I'd be afraid to take a LAV Koa 12 Fret-Slot out of the house.

Give it up, that system (or lack of) has more issues than a Vegan Shark... I went on Ebay to look at Al's store and I see that this is sold! I love the Folklore I have. There is something about the Elites (especially non cutaways) that reminds me of the classic old archtops with the epauletes. Hard to explain. There are deals on here, and regular stuff comes up on Craigslost for bottom feeders. This is a great place. Might be a bit high, this one: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/msg/3569774202.html too shallow, but a deal for someone? http://raleigh.craigslist.org/msg/3574329658.html Edited by Matt12Fret 2013-01-28 10:03 PM

If you want one NOW you need to talk to Al now about a slot head Koa - he's Crazy Al with the price of those. If you want a Ute or Adamas 1680, you'll want to be very patient, then very quick - not many out there and their owners love them. Alternatively, dig deep (very deep) into your pockets and get exactly what you want custom made. They could even make one with "f" hole epaulets if that's what floats your boat. Talk to Al, but this won't be Crazy Al, it will be you'll-have-to-pay-for-that Al.

A non cutaway slothead with "f" holes from the custom shop would be killer. Does "Al" have a site, or just sell on eBay? http://asheville.craigslist.org/msg/3535554954.html 02 Collectors for somebody $900 Edited by Matt12Fret 2013-01-29 12:17 PM

And someone gave me a shout that you might be interested in a Ute. I have one in great condition (no scratches, bangs or dents) and, if you're interested, let me know. I've toyed with the idea of selling this one a couple of times but every time I pick it up I talk myself back out of it. I've got lots of pics and you can just do a search here to see what people think about them. Shoot me a pm if you'd like to see one in your living room!

I'll let the new owner stand up if/when he would like to but he received it today and now that I know it got through the mail successfully and he's happy, I will be sending in a donation to the site (thanks, Al & Miles!). I'm very glad that it stayed in the family and I hope that anyone who's looking for a 12 fret, wide neck cannon gets a chance to play one (or the 1680). Absolutely fantastic guitars. Congrats to the new owner!
