Got a strat-type pickup but trying to work out how to mount it. They often come with screws and springs but this didn't. Are they screwed into the pick-guard? What I really need are pictures!
Also, how far should the pickup be from the strings? |

Generally, yeah, the pickup is attached to the pickguard. As to height, depends on what type of sound you want, and the impedance of the pickup (I think).
Good luck! |

Location: Cork, Ireland | Thanks. Been looking at lost of photos in Google Images: lots of people makin their own lap steels, it seems. From what I can see, the screws should go through the pickguard, pass through the springs, then the screws should screw in to the baseplate of the pickup? If so, the holes in the baseplate should be threaded, but they ain't ! Spose I could use self-tapping screws. Rough sketch attached
