Joined: November 2012 Posts: 135 Location: New Bern, NC | I am just aching to get the 1778 LX I mentioned in a previous thread. If it's been listed with the right specs, this is the one I've seen (see link below). It's a 2003, in "very nice" condition, original case, cherry burst finish, made in the USA and it's about $900, including shipping. According to the Ovation site, it originally sold for $2500. So, would you pay $900 for it? http://www.ovationguitars.com/guitars/product/elite_1778lx

Always thought you were a moron to do something dumb like the rest of us and sell guitars that we shouldn't have (and we all have). Every time I played one of those guitars, I always walked away thinking how nice they were and how great they sounded. I like a deeper bowl, but if you gave me a 1778LX and said that it was the only guitar I could ever have, I'd smile and say thank you and consider myself lucky. Worth $900? Probably worth more. Is the market at $900? I don't have a clue.....

I recently found a guitar (non 'O') that I just HAD to own - but I had to sell the guitar that I said I'd never sell (and a few other things) to buy it. I was willing to do that because I wanted it that bad. Edited by muzza 2013-02-21 1:05 AM

Totally the truth! And in reality we spend many intimate hours with our guitars, so the cost is worth it if we have the $ and if we enjoy the guitar. It is really remarkable that the factory put out these guitars for prices under $1k just a few years ago. A trip to the dentist for a couple of fillings can cost more than a guitar!

But I wanted it and I had the money, and I was 21 (oh for those days - when I had no bills! As far as your guitar goes, Meredith - I say go for it.
