Location: Jet City | I've been wanting an SSB for quite a while and had pretty much decided upon an '84 Collectors based on several things. Most of all was that I remember the question being asked here, "What's the best SSB?" and when Bill Kaman chimed in with the 84c, well, that left an impression. I mean, who would know better, right? This one came to me by way of StephenT28. He had a special nut put on and strung Nashville style. I fiddled with it that way for a week or so, but couldn't take it anymore. I needed to see how it would do for me in a normal setting, so now she's back to her ol' EJ16 wearin' self. I love the use of BLACK in this. As much as I can remember, this was a pretty radical jump in looks for Ovation. I think it's the first with black tuner buttons, a black pebhead veneer, and of course the ebony stain rubbed over the spruce top for that antiqued brown/black effect. Cool axe. I'll shuddup now...

Location: Jet City | My personal opinion... I think you can really see Bill's input and style coming through on this one. MAybe more than any other prior to it... (UKII excluded) |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I think they introduced the SSB on the 83 Collector, which is a centerhole and the best sounding SSB I've heard. The 84 was the first SSB in the Elite style. I haven't heard one of those yet, so I'll have to check it out next time I'm up there, Damon. |

Location: New Hartford CT | It's a beauty. Plus the neck body blends into headstock perfectly and the edges are nice and crisp, not over sanded. Thanks for posting. |

If I decide to do next year's calendar, I may just make it a little easier on myself and raid Damon's galleries for the whole thing.
