it was my first ovation acoustic. awesome guitar, great tone. Mine played like a dream. I had gone in looking to buy a wood box until the sales guy stuck that one in my hand.

anything you want to know in particular?

My daughter's bandmate has one. I have never heard another Ovation sound better plugged in than that one.

I like that it's one of the American made ones and since that's getting more and more rare, I want to buy one while I still can. I mostly play unplugged. Honestly, I don't NEED one. I just WANT one. My Custom Legend 1619 is still the best guitar I've ever played, hands down. I've been all over North American and Europe and studied music and guitar for over 30 years and have never played another guitar that plays or sounds as great as my Custom Legend. It plays like butter and its intonation all the way up the neck is flawless. I wouldn't trade it for all the tea in China. I just WANT the LX to add to my collect and without spending $3000 it's going to be hard to top my Custom Legend. I'm not sure the LX will be any better. It sure is PRETTY though!!!

By the way, the one I'm looking at is a 2003 model. What is the "blue book" value on that? Speaking of that, is there a source anywhere that tells you the "blue book" value of Ovations from year to year, taking into consideration the condition, like there is for cars?

Not real reliable sources no. Maybe try looking at completed auctions on eBay and see what they've been selling for.... a much better way to gauge resell value. I sold mine for something between 700-800, but that was quite a few years ago. It was VERY beautiful, but I ended up replacing it with a contour bowl custom elite. It was the cover of an OFC calendar one year. Can't remember who bought it from me.
