Location: Seymour, Tennessee		I had to go look at A-970 cause this thread peaked my interest. Mine has weaving that is pretty definative and the neck block looks a little more angular than the one in the pic. Probably just the lighting.

Sounds like a very early 2ng gen bowl. Is it shiny or textured?

Does the neck-block look like these?

I wonder how they decided what neck they put on the early guitars...#485 (stolen from Nicks backyard) has either a one or two piece neck. You don't see many of these attached to a shiny bowl.

Alphanumeric serial numbers (A + XXX, B + XXX, etc.) were never stamped on neck blocks. Only three digit, four digit and five digit numbers were stamped on neck blocks, with the three digit numbers being in a circle, and the four and five digit numbers being in a rectangle.

The alphanumeric numbers started in 1968 with the A + XXX serialization and ended in 1971 at approximately M + XXX. The numerical only serialization ended in 1971 - 1972 at approximately 14000, with the serial number stamped on the neck block.
