I think a bit of humidification will go a long way here, but in the meantime, here's your chance to get a lot of sound for a little bit of money. Since you've been warned, I'll drop the bad news first, though it's nothing you have not heard before with older instruments. It has a few dings from use of course, but it also has a mustache finish crack just under the bridge. The is another minor finish crack next to the fretboard on the bass side of the upper bout. (There are pictures of both below.) These were difficult to get a decent picture of and impossible to see from a few feet away. The top has settled in a bit which probably caused the cracks years ago. I will put a new humidifier in the case before I ship, and I imagine that over time, things will even out again. I could not get the settling to show clearly in the photos, but you can feel it with your hand and see it if you look closely. All that being said, look at the photos. This guitar is hardly a beater by any means! It plays effortlessly! The sound is smooth and full with astounding balance. The wider nut makes it a fingerstylist's dream, and the 12-fret configuration makes it a surprisingly comfortable guitar strap on or sit with. The finish has started to amber up nicely and the wood underneath is gorgeous! The serial number, 053XXX, dates its manufacture to 1975. Because of the cosmetic issues, I'm going to ask $550 including a HS-case and shipping in the continental U.S. If you want it shipped overseas, let's talk. By all means, ask any questions and thanks for looking. Here are the specs from the Ovation website: Top: Sitka Spruce AA Bracing: Ovation X Scale Length: 25 1/4" Fretboard: Ebony Fret Inlay: 8 Pearl Bridge : Walnut Pickup: None Nutwidth: 1 7/8" Machines: Deluxe Chrome ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

(BTW, if you're ever in Australia, be VERY careful if and when you use the word 'poof'...) Edited by muzza 2013-04-24 3:53 AM

The acoustic only 1114 has a definite sound advantage over the 1614 that I bought for my son. It is a similar tone to my legend but bigger like the UTE but to me a more balanced tone than the ute. It was a pleasure to get a "Patch" owned guitar. Great guy to deal with and talk to. He pointed out every little flaw and really kind of overstated them. The guitar is far nicer than I expected.

I didn't play mine much after it arrived from the USA. It had a WONDERFUL tone, but I didn't enjoy playing it. I thought it was the wider neck and hopefully I'd get used to it. But you can't get used to something if you never play it. Then... I gave it to fellow OFCer Andrew Armstrong (The Wizz) for a week. He gave it a fret dress and did some work on the nut. He transformed it into a fingerpicker's dream guitar. Plays like butter and sounds like rumbling thunder. He was actually reluctant to give it back to me. Spend some time with it and save it for special songs that you ONLY play on that guitar and you'll get used to the wider neck much quicker. Enjoy... Edited by muzza 2013-04-24 8:24 AM

That guitar sounds every bit as good as it's described though. Thanks for the kind words TL.
