Tonight at our weekly Bluegrass Jam I scored a win for Ovation Guitars. In most parts of this fine country of ours Bluegrass Jams are almost exclusive territory of Martin Dreds....that is just the way it is. Tonight at our local Bluegrass Jam night I scored a win for Ovation guitars..for whatever that is worth. I took two of my closest band buddies and we sang our best version of Poco's song Keep on Trying acompanied by my trusty Ovation 1114 Folklore Slothead guitar. It was just awesome....folks came up to me after our song and said they had never heard an Ovation guitar sound that good...powerful and strong and sweet...and our voices were good too! I have been playing in bands for 40 years so I have a couple of chops but still...this is Martin country and I was pleased. Just wanted everybody to know that Ovation can score a win in hostile territory.
all my best,
Washington Bob |

| I play Bluegrass, and have owned various Martin guitars over the last 30 years, or so. I've also owned Ovations for that long. I've changed a lot of people's minds about Ovation over the years, also. I currently own a Martin HD-28V, one of Martin's best, IMO. It's a great sounding Bluegrass guitar, but my old Anniversary Legend does the job even better for me. It's really open and has tons of bass. Everyone that hears it is amazed by it's power. I wouldn't trade it for anything else for Bluegrass. |

I just love to play guitar and especially love Bluegrass Music. I own a fine Martin Dred and the Martin HD-28VR may just be the finest guitar I have ever played...but I truely love my Ovation 1114 Slothead. It just booms and plays so well in tune up and down the neck. Ovations are so reasonably priced that a person can afford to own several and I really think that is neat. Thanks again for your input.

| Your absolutely right about affordability, Bob. That's what's so neat about them. Made in the good old U.S.A. with the highest quality materials, and still reasonably priced. What else can we say meets those standards this day and time?
Those Martin Dreads are fine guitars. Your VR is the same guitar as my HD-28V, just an earlier version. I think they are the best that Martin makes. That said, I still like playing my old Ovation Legend more than anything else.
As far as Bluegrass goes, it is my favorite type of music to play. I also play mandolin and fiddle, and really enjoy jamming every chance I get. |
