| Which one has the bigger overall sound? I've learned that both Jeff Lynne and Brian May played the 1615 on all those great records, and that's the sound I'm going for. BUT, from what few examples I've found on uTube, the 1655 has an even fuller sound.
Guess I'm asking for advice. Thanks guys,

The 1615's fan bracing gives it that classic "harpsichord", chimey sound that many people associate with 12-strings. Both guitars have great sounds, which one you like better is purely personal choice. (Although I admit a preference for A-bracing, it probably has something to do with playing a 1755 for nearly 30 years now. Of all my guitars, it's the sentimental favorite.) |

"Chimey" might be one way of saying it... I call it crappy.
Personally I like the sound of Elites best for 12 strings, but if I had to pick between the 2, I'd pick the 1655 |

| Gotcha guys, thanks for the input.
This 1655 is stereo. Is that standard, or has it been tweaked?
Thanks,

Well, from the pics, it seems to be. The knobs are missing, but they are indeed stacked. How is the stereo divided up?
Thanks,

That's awesome! Makes up my mind! I'd love double tracking that spread for rhythm! |

| That stereo sounds mesmerizing. I went with the 1655, spoke with the seller on the phone beforehand, so there better be no hiccups this time around.
Looking forward to trying my AKG 240Ms with it, after new strings etc. |
