OT Ukulele strinh question

I have escaped from the prairie cold to the island of Kauai and as it was a rainy day today found myself in an Ukulele store checking out the goods. The ones I liked most (Mele) all had low G string, which I guess appealed to me as a mainly strumming guitar player. So now I am thinking about putting a set of string with low G on my tenor, and I am wondering if I can just do that or if it will need some adjustment like changes to nut and/or saddle?

Location: Phoenix AZ		Nut slot might need widening a tad bit. Or not. Try it first and see. Suggest you try Aquila or Guadelupe brand strings.

Location: Northwest Arkansas		I did it with a Lanakai tenor and the nut handled the low "G" just fine. I've never played it with the higher string. I think I'll do it for the heck of it. I dabble on banjo, so I like that high string. Tune it to open "G" and play that way.

Location: Phoenix AZ		I've gone back and forth but to me (personal opinion) low G tuning just doesn't sound like a ukulele is supposed to sound. More like a badly tuned classical guitar capo'd at the 5th fret. Need the high G to get that ukulele 'zing. But that's just how I hears it.
