Long time ukulele player who recently started into the world of its big bodied cousin and got HOOKED when my guitar teacher handed me his Ovation Balladeer to try. Never had my hands felt so comfortable on a neck, and the action was so forgivable! I felt like if I just got close to a chord I was barring it would sing without me having to pressing my fingers into the fret... I immediately sold my Yamaha 700s and got me a new an entry level Applause AE44-5. The love affair continued with a 1998 CC11 bought from the original owner who had a Buzz Feiten system installed back in the day - its my go to player - all acoustic with a deep contour bowl - damn I love that grow! and the Recently at a local pawn shop I came across a Honey of a 12 string - CC-045-HB... Honey Burst to be exact with a hard case for a cool $290 - they wanted $350 but a haggling insued mostly due to the godawefull thing someone did to the saddle. I mean I am no luthier but pretty sure I have never seen the saddle slotted like it was a nut. Anyone know where I can get a replacement saddle for this girl? I tried searching the forums for 12 string saddle replacement but came up short. She actually still sounds good - looking forward to what she sounds like for real. Would love to swap this saddle out and add some new strings (suggestions?) then take her in to the local guitar shop for a proper setup. So unbeliveably happy to have found this site!! Thanks so much to all for all the information here. T.R.

Apparently the previous owner wanted to lower the action. As to what kind of saddle that is... If your saddle looks like this it is a Thinline CP-100. I don't think that there is a difference between a 6 string or 12 string saddle. You can search eBay or contact the "Mini-Mother" Ovation Repair shop. Call 860-379-7575 during East Coast business hours and ask.

You'll be amazed at how much better honey will sound. - Your nut must be cut too ... because that guitar looks to be strung as simply double coursed all the way up. What do you call that ... like a Mandocello on Steroids? It's not strung like a normal 12. So ... that guitar has been specially set up by someone who wanted a different sound. How does it sound? How does it play? Does it buzz anywhere? If not, I'd personally throw some new strings on it (same as this thing has now - lemme know if you need help figuring that out) and play it for a while and discover some cool new sounds before I set it back up for standard. If you ever decide to go back. You just might come up with a new signature sound that you really like. Edited by stonebobbo 2015-06-11 8:45 PM
