Howdy, folks.

I'm new here and to Ovation guitars. Gotta admit, I was never a fan of Ovations acoustics cuz of the round backs. But, played a Deacon/BW back in the day and loved the neck. Amazingly, I have come into possession of a hacked up Breadwinner Limited (mahogany). It was given to me by a friend cuz it got hacked by his friend(?) who lost the pick guard and both knobs. Otherwise, the guitar looks to be in pretty decent shape.

Obviously, I'm on the lookout for these parts. A Breadwinner Limited pickguard and 2 of those HUGE Ovation knobs. I'm not a collector, but a player. I jes wanna play this thing, as I remember BW/Deacons had unbelievably fast necks. So, I will accept non-factory parts, as I jes wanna get this axe back into playable condition. I'll even accept a pencil outline of BW Limited pick guard and jigsaw one out, myself.

Thank you for your reply. I sent you a PM, then got sidetracked reading the 2015 OFC Gathering thread. Looks like BIG fun was had by all.

notbob,

Post in the General forum once you are in and post some photos of what you have.
Likely, we can fill in the missing parts.

I sent you an email... you are also as MWoody suggested free to move about the cabin and post a pic or two of the project.

Many thanks to you all.

I'll post some pics as soon as I take and process them. Look for a new post as soon as I figure out my way around your fine forum. I"m an old-school Usenet user, so am not used to these newfangled GUI gizmos. Which way to the post-a-picture howto?

Go to FAQ
Then go to How do I add links to pictures and video in my posts

Also there are many threads about how people go lost while trying to post pics.

DOH!!

(BTW, thank you, OMA)

Looks like OFC does NOT host/store "images". I understand. Lotta overhead. Unfortunately, I do not patronize other picture posting websites, so have no URL to link, so will have to settle for sending Mr O images in an email, for now. FWIW, my Breadwinner Limited (BWL) looks identical to Mr O's "SOLD" BWL (035), only minus a pickguard and knobs. Even the case interior is the same color.

I will look for an image hosting solution, as it appears I will receive more aid from you fine folks if I can post pics of what the heck I'm talking about.

Even the case interior is the same color.

Actually that's not true. On the screen where you post, just above the Submit and Preview buttons there is "Attach a file after posting". The next screen will let you select the file and upload it, and if you have more than one you can select another and upload, and continue until you are done and then click "Return to Thread"

Also, and somewhat easier I think, is just select the "User Rich Text Editor" feature (Ensure Disable HTML is NOT checked) and click on the little "image" icon that allows you to upload an image and size it too.

Of course you do all this to posts in the "General" area as this Welcome Center is limited.

I thank you, most humbly, Miles.

I'm kinda wrung out from doing other probate stuff, so will continue, tomorrow. I promise more detailed pics as soon as I flog my ancient Linux desktop back into shape. I'll post any new thread on "general", as per advised.

This is for EVERYBODY....

Always click the [Preview] button before the using the [Submit] button.
That way you will discover if the photo is "Life Sized" or not.
Life Sized images can suddenly make a whole thread unreadable.

You want the width to be 600 or smaller.

Personally, I use Photobucket.
I just resize the image to 600 width and photobucket will choose the height.
But first, crop the image... then resize it to 600 width (or less).
Why crop?
The members here quickly become distracted by dirty socks, dust bunnies, un-cut grass, marijuana plants, tomato plants that look like marijuana plants, and any other shiny objects.
You want the guitar to be the subject of the photo or these ADHD folk will just nut-up.

FYI... If you use the "attach after posting" option, the photos are automatically resized. Same as for the Gallery.

Really?
I had to find a Breadwinner pic that was small enough to upload...
It was still saying that file had to be smaller than 100KB.
That's okay, I was just testing.

I jes informed Mr. O to go forward with the transaction. I can't believe I can get everything in one place. You folks are amazing.

I'll be taking some more detailed pics and posting them in a new thread in GENERAL, as I appears I'll be needing some further advice on this project.

OMG OMA!

Great photo.

What is that middle BW, the yellowish one with the maple(?) neck? Was this a factory model?

Looks like a Viper neck.

This is the only Deacon with a maple fretboard I've seen from the factory...

Both of the Deacons are MWoody creations that were extensively modified.

"Extensively modified"

The steps are usually:
- Inspiration
- acquisition of Parts
- Lack of parts? Make something close...
- Obsess
- Construct
- Repair
- Play/Enjoy
- Sell to fund additional Project Obsessions

Repeat as needed
