It can be done either over the phone or email, but email would probably be best. I'd really like to get in touch with someone that used to work or is currently working at the mother ship in Connecticut, but honestly someone who is very knowledgeable in the Ovation community would be just a good. Thank you all for taking the time to read this and have a wonderful day!

There are some here who used to work at the Mothership, and many others who have as much knowledge as though they did. You could contact the factory in New Hartford directly, perhaps they can answer some questions, though they are busy busy busy right now. Edited by FlySig 2016-03-06 1:19 PM

The Ovation Guitar book by Walter Carter is another good place to start, also, as well as any guitar-related/music trade magazines, like Guitar Player, Guitar World, Acoustic Guitar, etc. which are all online now, too. I wish you much success with your research paper. Ovation's history is indeed interesting, but it seems to have been buried by THE BIG 3. Thank you for helping us to further resurrect it with your research. Mike S. Ottawa, ON. CANADA

This one is a half-hour and informative to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWB22iSrD98 This one is shorter and less detailed, but has some things the other one doesn't: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gkr5fZ4OY6g And another shortie with no narration, just CNC machinery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSOdMaBV4bQ I don't know if these will post as active links, so you may have to copy and paste to your browser. Hope they help. Good luck with your paper. A great topic to choose! ~LOF~

Joined: March 2005 Posts: 12759 Location: Boise, Idaho | That was interesting. Turns out Sam and I had met before. His mom and I used to work together and she brought him over to check out guitars about 10 years ago. I remembered he had just bought a Celebrity and I showed him the USA models I had back then. He got hooked and now has more Adamas guitars than I do. A couple of Ovation geeks had a long conversation about different bowls. His writing assignment is supposed to be fairly narrow, so it might be something like his history with Ovation guitars, but he has a bunch of reading material for the weekend and we'll see how it goes. After he left, I remembered that 10 years earlier he was trying to remember the name of some guy he had heard on an oldies station. It was Jim Croce. We'll have to revisit that next time.

I believe everything that anybody ever said on the OFC, so all the information I gave him came straight from here. I forgot to tell him about string tubes. I'll try to catch that before his final draft.
