Location: BELGIUM | Hi all, i am new here. Marc from Belgium. I am a collector of guitars and in my big collection there is one very special guitar for me. It is an old Ovation model 1111.6. It is about 36 years old and was used very intensively. I got as a special gift from my fellow students, since my other guitar (an acoustic Aria) was stolen on the first day at university. Faculty organised a party to buy a new guitar. So this instrument is kind of special to me.
But after so many years of not playing the guitar rested in the house and was victim of differences in dry, wet, hot, cold which made the finish of the top come off. I would love to refinish the top myself now and play this love again like i used to do. The colour is natural.
Does anyone have any advice on how to get the old paint etc off and get a new finish on ?
Thanks in advance.
