Hello everyone. I'm new to the Ovation world but an old hand when it comes to guitars. I always discounted Ovations due to the fact that they aren't made out of wood. I was mistaken and I have seen the error of my ways. I found the site trying to figure out what brand of tuner machines comes on the Ovation CE44P-8TQ. I want to replace them mainly for appearance purposes but locking tuners would be a nice upgrade. I wasn't able to find anything using the usual search keywords. Love the site and would like to be a full member when ever and admin can get to it. Thanks for such an informative forum!

Hello JayB

Welcome to the club. I don't know too much about the imports, But if Arthur sees this, he might have the answer.

I am Arthur.
I saw this earlier but I really don't have an answer.
I don't know what Brand those tuners are...
Yeah, the say "Ovation" on them, but they are probably just off-the-rack Asian tuners.
Since those are newer I ain't sure, older Celebrity's had 14-1 ratio tuners.

The older CC44 had the screw at "6 o'clock" and you could direct replace them with Grovers.
Since the screws on your tuners are at 7:30 and 5:30 it looks like you could replace them with Gotohs 3+3 from Stew-mac
Also there are other tuners, but I don't think that the screw-holes match.
You can use other tuners... You can drill new holes and fill the old ones (or not).
Look around the Stew-mac page, there are many choices...
Self-trimming, Locking, etc.
USA Ovations don't have locking tuners, after all Ovation acoustics don't have whammy-bars.
If you really want to change out... Go with the Open-Gear tuners!
They are Lighter and the Look Cool!
