BB didn't have that logo in 1968. The pickup was definitely added later. It's an early guitar (1968) but certainly not a prototype. The ad has lifted a lot of the text directly from my own webpage. Nice guitar if you are in to nostalgia.

If I am not mistaken, Ovation did use a BB, but it was on a nylon, while they were trying to appease Glen...while R&Ding their own piezo. Glen and Ovation ended up going with the prismatone, as their interim pickup. This would have been right after the shiny bowl era. 

Having bought several shinys...950 would be mint area.
