I am sure this has been posted before but this is the best version of Wichita Lineman I have heard. SCROL to 8:39 on the video to watch just the song and skip the interview.
I almost bought one of those longhorn dano baritones last year at the Seatac guitar show. I'm headed there in a couple weeks. Wonder if I'll see it again.

It seemed to rise to the top in the numerous remembrances across the spectrum of outlets. And, surprisingly, helped to focus my own feelings about the "package" of song/performance/arrangement of the original record. Really an achievement IMHO.

That's a great version for sure. And it's interesting in that this was a solo performance. No other instruments to be found.
Makes me want to go out and buy an acoustic Viper!

There were also many references to Glen as the "Rhinestone Cowboy". He was famous for a lot of songs. If I had to pick a favorite, it might be "Phoenix", but that is influenced by the fact that Phoenix is the only place I saw him in concert, knowing that it was his last tour and that he and my mother had Alzheimer's.

I hope all is well. For some reason, Glen got a little sentimental at the end, it appears.
He sure did...he's said he loves the arrangement of this song, I guess everyone does. Something about the lyrics and the melody makes one reflective, it's just lightning in a bottle.
Jay, I've been playing about 30 -45 minutes a day through a big PA system at my practice space at the old warehouse...I'm a lifelong drummer who for the past 6 years or so has kind of transferred my practice time to guitar. Drums pay some bills but one day I want to show up at an open mic and see what i can do. Been focusing on fingerstyle, travis picking especially. What a great technique to master and apply to other styles of fingerpicking. It's challenging. Now I need to learn a few more chords!

When I think of Glen, the songs that first come to mind are Witchita Lineman and Gentle on My Mind. Despite its popularity, Rhinestone Cowboy just isn't on my radar.
