Joined: April 2006 Posts: 32 Location: Bay Area, CA | I was at the local GC, having a look at their acoustic amps. Tried the Roland and SFXII. But they also had a Loudbox Performer, and oooh did it sound rich, especially next to the other two. I was using a top end Elite as it was the closest they had to my Adamas. The multi-amp setup and midrange speaker seem to be the key, as it was clear and clean over the full spectrum. Very simple controls, reverb and chorus. Problem was the price was more than I was wanting to part with. So I've bought a NOS original Loudbox 250, on its way to me now. It has reverb, but lacks chorus and a second channel. The folks at Fishman said the 1/4" plug should sound as clear and quiet as the XLR from my Adamas. So I'm curious if anyone has experience with the Fishman's, especially using the active pickup setup in the Adamas. Any special settings, tips, etc? I also plan to use it with my Viper and CA. I plugged in a Tele at the GC, and wow did it sound good too--I could get pure clean jazzy tone, as well as a nice country twang, and loads of volume. [oh boy, new toy]

The annual folk and bluegrass festival is at Snowbird the weekend of July 14-15. Kinda home-grown, like Telluride in the early 80's. Some fun concerts with great views at The Canyons (Sam Bush often shows up). In a lot of ways it's like 20 years ago in Colorado, and 30 years ago in the Bay area. Hey I used to get to Boise fairly often with HP, and really enjoyed the visits. Looks like you have quite a closet full of Mr. Kaman's creations. If it weren't for that "one in, one out rule"...

I'm watching Peregrine falcons fly around outside my office window as we speak. Boise's not a bad place, but don't tell those dam Californians. I won't be able to live here much longer if they don't quit driving up the property values. Schroeder, I could never understand anyone who didn't think that one wife was more than enough.

For me, one wife, certainly mine, is all a man would ever need. I understand, as with almost everthing, there are those with more expansive requirements. ;-)

Very full, rich, realistic tone. And it's all about tone--thick bass, solid mids, clear highs. The 'brilliance' control is equivalent to the SFX 'string dynamics'--set high you can hear every fingernail scratch on the string, or low it becomes very soft, mellow. What blew me away though was my Viper. Whew! clean, clear, balanced, truly the acoustic sound the Viper is capable of, but I'd never heard before through my electric guitar amp. It seems made for this Loudbox, and I expect it will be my favorite combination.
