| Joined: November 2004 Posts: 1374 | well Al just dropped by with some more toys for me to try out... an Alesis strat style Electric with effects built in... lot's of fun for noodlin around, so I set that one in the stand and he hands me a very nice OFC brown leather softie strap, says that one's for me, then he hands me a package which has a copy of "The Book" in it, which I am to memorize, sign, and send to another member.... then he says he has to walk out to his truck... comes back in with a deluxe black O case and I ask him what it is? "Oh this is my new secret".... and I ask him if he has to hide another one.... nope... pulls out a beautiful U681t to let me try on for size... all I have to say is WOW! thanks for the strap buddy.. Thanks to Glenn(I think)I began my journey in Ovationland. My first was/is a standard Balladeer, then a deluxe.Every time I made a new purchase Glenn would advise me about history/preamps/bracing,and weather it was a "good grab" or not.He always knew what was going on.it's been almost two years now and his help and guidance have been greatly appreciated. When the opportunity to buy a U681t came up,I said nothing, not a word......he's been busy with Charlotte's issues.Anyway......my new friend Mike(Fugot)agreed to keep mum. This would be one grab Glenn wouldn't know about. The look on his face this morning was priceless,he couldn't have smiled brighter had the guitar been for him.Just had to share my little joke with my friends on the OFC.Sorry about being longwinded, hope this is posted in the right place. (the start of the cannon/miller swap shop.) I have the second one on the way, and it should stay with me for a long while, now that I've matured enough to appreciate it. | ||

| Joined: November 2004 Posts: 1374 | figured I'd send it your way next Jim... and we have more than a few of us here in FL to keep it moving around south for a while... with all the meet-ups going on with this group and members in it.. maybe we should start planning one down here.. how about around okechobee? we could have a pig roast, airboating/fishing, swim with the gators... eat some swamp cabbage and have a great time... or we could be touristy if we have to.. bet more than a few of y'all would fit right in. BTW Slydog's got a new boat he hasn't had a chance to break in right yet.. hoping to split bait, beer, and gas with him on it sometime soon. Al that Ute's a Beaut! remember I got first refusal... ;) Glenn | ||

Well Glenn, Since everytime I try to go to an OFC event, something somes up, my wife suggested we do an OFC jam and get together here at casa de zilla. It is Orlando, but we are pretty far from all of the tourist stuff and we have plenty of room. Maybe sometime toward the end of summer or in the fall when it cools off.with all the meet-ups going on with this group and members in it.. maybe we should start planning one down here.. how about around okechobee? we could have a pig roast, airboating/fishing, swim with the gators... eat some swamp cabbage and have a great time... or we could be touristy if we have to..

Glen, after you memorize the book, let me know and I'll send you my address....or....maybe do a handoff at the possible upcoming Fla. get together.
