Location: Up North | I saw a show on TV a while back about a company building cello's completely out of carbon fibre, (I think it was Louis & Clarke). Maybe you could track them down to build your custom stand-up bass? |

I told my nephew about this company a while back. He's waiting for the Bass version. I believe I heard about them on this board.

Sound familiar.
Oddly, there is not a lot of pushback from peers. I believe there are a couple of these instruments in the National Symphony (nephew's gig). There are certainly A number of them around in various big time orchestras around the US. |
