My Viper arrived today from Miles. It's a cream colored Viper. Pictures will have to wait until the weekend.

Plugged it in to my '68 Super Reverb and this guitar just sounds excellent. I know I'm still in the honeymoon phase with this guitar but it just sounds excellent at every setting. Unfortunately one of our other guitarists has my UKII so I can't do a direct comparison. I got the Viper so that I could wrestle the UKII back away from him but I may just let him play the UKII. The Viper is an excellent guitar. So is the UKII. I can't wait till my Deacon comes in from Garey. The Ovation solid body guitars can stand up to some of the very best. I'm loving the Viper.

I'm especially loving the fact that all 3 toggle switch settings sound completely different and they're all excellent.

I now know what a bunch of you Viper fans were trying to tell me.

Regards,

Tom

Doc..I got my Viper from Miles today, too. Even though I have nothing to compare it to and no real solidbody experience, it doesn't take away from the fact that it truly is a sweet sounding guitar.

My serial # begins with an E and has 4 digits. If I read the chart available here that puts it's manufactured date around February of 1975 or 32 years old. Miles setup is spot on. (Thanks Miles!)

After having only played with acoustics, it is really strange playing the easy, extremely low setup Viper. I will have to spend equal time with them all or I might become spoiled.

Hope that you enjoy yours!

Jim

Glad you guys like the guitars. I've been raving (and ranting) about the Viper since 1979.

Congrats Tom, lucky you got that one. It looks as if your electric inventory was getting a little low.

Looks like we cleaned him out. There are no more Vipers in the collection for sale.

BTW, my son Adam... in addition to his band, Seven Story Fall, he's starting a new surf punk group with some other guys and planning to use the Viper. He thinks that if the band does well, in a year he may switch to a Wilson Bros Ventures guitar, though.
