WOW....that was a great price for a near mint breadwinner. Makes me really appreciate the limited I just got at the price I paid!

That is an old guitar. The designer must have been on something when he drew that up. It looks like it came out of a Zap comic. I did not know those old O solid bodies would bring that kind of dough. It's a nice looking rig. Buck

Glad to see them appreciate!
Sorry to see them more expensive to obtain!

Buckaroo - Visit the Breadwinner site (in our Links) and catch up on the history and read the entry from one of the leads in the design.

Had some solidbody players over last night for a jam. It was nice to hear my D12 and PD played by someone who knew what to do with it! Played Mr. G's PD as well.

Comments like "what is that" and "Ovation made a solidbody" are often heard when you introduce these babys.

MARK MY WORDS:

In about ten years these solids will be highly sought after by snot nosed, tackle box ridden (and subsequently surgically removed) kids that have reached their 30's and now have some real income and want to use what's left of their brain cells!

Sound familiar. Yes, I am old. I'll leave my left turn signal on as long as I want dang-it!

Geez - the friends I pick...

Question for CWK2:

Did they give a big fat bonus check to the one that redesigned the Limited by taking a whack out of it. I think you mentioned once that it was...

...oh, nevermind.

Ya know...I have recently said how I would never part with my Breadwinner. I guess everyone has a price somewhere. That kinda change could be a good downstroke on the OFC guitar.

I love the look of these, but can you shred on one? I wouldn't mind getting one or a Deacon before they're 2 grand apiece

"but can you shred on one?"

Yes. In fact, before the word shred was invented.

I'll give you that one. You need to play some of the old solids to see for yourself.

I think they're gorgeous, I always have. I've never played one, though. I'd love to play a Deacon through a half stack and just wail on it for a while.

Woody, If only I had this rig back then... "before the word shred was invented".
Gonna be hard to get all this in the casket with me.

Jim777....make all your dreams come true.

I have a very nice Deacon that I was going to list on ebay but if you are interested, we can work out a deal.

Pics in my gallery.

Am I the only one to notice it's NOT that old (in the scheme of Breadwinners) and does not even have the original tuners?

That's a nice looking guitar! Hey, do you have all three pickups for the Dan Armstrong? I had one for a while (close to 30 years ago now, I'm thinking), but I had all the pickups for mine. I've never seen another that hadn't be separated from the pickups since. Anyway, give me a few days and I'll PM you about the Deacon. I had a rather large flood in my house on Friday so I need to get that semi atraightened out before I get anything else.

Miles, I thought the same thing about the tuners but since I am nowhere near an expert on all the original incarnations of the solid body guitars, I just assumed that it was what it was.

Thanks for pointing it out!

Jim777,

No hurry. Like all great guitars in our collections, even when we decide to sell something we are rarely in a hurry to actually do it. :D

The ONLY reason I am selling off the Deacon is because I was lucky enough to recently score a mint limited. As I have stated in the past, if I don't regularly play it or if it is a duplicate, then it is time to pass it on to someone who will give it a dose of daily lovin!

Obviously, I would prefer to keep them within the OFC family but sometimes they have to go to ebay.

Jim777,

At one time I believe I had all 5 of the DA pickups. A couple were only offered as a special promotion through one of the old guitar mags....coupon directly to Dan Armstrong entitled you to purchase the special limited run pickups.

When things got crazy on ebay a year or so ago, I sold off all but 2 of them. Believe it or not, they sold for over $300 EACH! Now what kind of madness is that!!!!!

And 2 nice Vipers sold over the weekend for around $400. Are these creeping up in value too?

Big bucks for a Breadwinner! Makes me glad I bought my Deacon, and mines all original, tuners and all. :D

I don't really worry about it appreciating, but like P.T. Barnum
said, "there's one born every minute." If they get ridiculously high I may part ways with it. Everybody has their limits. :D

Yep. Sounds blasphemous. LOL

My first thought was, if you want blasphemy, you should have gone for the mother lode: "has anyone put a Floyd Rose on an Adamas" [Grinning,Ducking,&Running!!!!]
