I am not a big fan of the sound of the Rainsong guitars although they are nice guitars. Just not my cup of tea.

Resonator and archtop guitars are designed to cut through, it not so much a matter of pure volume is it is the range and frequency they are designed to project. For instance in recording, my Weissenborn is a lot hotter than my Dobro, yet in the real world you can hear the Dobro a block away whereas the Weissenborn has long since faded.

I've always sort of put deep bowl Ovations in a Martin 00 or 000 range acoustically but brighter and louder. Less full than a dread or jumbo but punchier, and all the better if there's ambient noise.
