I´ve been watching the news and it is really sad. Hope it rains so you can start again.
Good luck.

12 years into a drought and no rain down here in the foreseeable future. Two fire fronts may merge with hot northerly winds expected next week. Lightning strikes have started new outbreaks and f***** firebugs have started others.

There was an article in our Melbourne paper 5 months ago warning of a group advocating "forest fire terrorism" - I so hope this isn't the case.

The authorities are now warning the toll will rise to over 300. It's such a strange feeling trying to get on with life normally and all this is happening 20 miles away - it plays with your mind. I cannot imagine how it is affecting the volunteers and others directly involved in the horror.

You should consider building a 12' diameter pipeline and dump as much seawater as you can into the interior.

Hard times brother.

flackster,

I know exactly what you mean! Our 2nd Amendment was not created to protect hunting (ala the internet creator, Al Gore). It was included for two purposes; to allow the citizens to protect themselves from predators, four and two legged, AND primarily to prevent the government from deviating from our founding fathers goals. Why was it the 'Second Amendment'? Ummm...

I saw the pics of the Aussie government's 'collection' of private citizens firearms and the destruction of the same. It was a very sad day for me and especially for your country.

So help me God, as my cherished nation is approaching what your country has went through, I will continue to buck the 'naturing crib-to-grave' nanny state.

Just today I had a fantastic conversation via phone with one of my favorite OFC members as to where our country is heading. It's all to easy to just cruise through life without paying attention to and having a sense of justice.

My Mom escaped from Latvia during WWII through two major battle fronts to escape both Nazism and Communism. Her fervor still flows through my blood, mind and family. So at the risk of a 'vacation', FUCK any one that wants to remove the one thing that all politicians fear, an armed population!

And I still ache due to the destruction of your country, both natural and otherwise!

Please be safe!

Flackster, Oz , AJ and others...

My heart, and for that matter the heartfelt thoughts of anyone I have spoken with recently goes out to you and your fellow country folks hoping for some rain, or whatever it will take to end the death and destruction, and maybe a little luck to keep everyone safe.

And I apologize for those so called "Americans" that have so few morals that they must use your tragedy as a forum to push their own political agenda. They, or he if you will, does not speak for the rest of us.

Cheers, and stay safe.

Miles the topic *WAS* brought up by flackster from
Melbourne Australia. Why would he need to be applogy to him???

Now you refering to " those so called "Americans" ".
is patiently offensive and an attempt to demean and belittle the posters as something secound class.
That is damn insulting.
That should require an applogy.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers for the people in need.

Well after all the gloom some smiles were seen today when our national cricket team (please don't ask me to explain this game or how two teams can play for 5 days and still draw) visited one of the sites and played cricket with the children. There were tears of happiness from the parents as some of them saw their children smile and laugh for the first time in 4 days.

Like you Miles and quoting Phil Collins "I wish it would rain down".

Time Gentlemen please!!

We certainly are a country of extremes at the moment.

Severe flooding and a 5 year boy old taken by a Crocodile in the Far North and 300 odd people burnt alive 2800 miles south.

Thanks for all your good wishes

The fires aren't done yet!!

That is great AJ, nice to see them donating like that. The Red Cross is a great organization, they have helped me out a few times. Stay safe, see you in a couple of months.
