They're great guitars if you want acoustic only and I like the old brown bowls. Here's what Ovation has to say about it: http://www.ovationguitars.com/archive/guitar/legend_1117 Did you have any specific questions about the guitar?

BTW, welcome to the group.

This was my very first Ovation. I bought it in the early 1970's. Kept it about 10 years until it was stolen out of a motorhome in a camppground at the beach in Southern California. I was heartbroken. I replaced it with the Legend Ltd in 1981 which I still own.

That guitar sold in Sept of 2008 for 49.00 In today's dollars, that would be 26.34

Hey guys! I've actually worked out a deal with the guy at the guitar shop. My Epi EJ-200 Artist and $50 for the Ovation and a hard case. What kind of strings should I try? I like to play fingerstyle and I love that deep sound.

I play finger style as well and use Earnie Ball Earthwood Silk and Steel. They have a nylon core wrapped with steel and sound great and feel like butter on your frettinng hand. They have a really nice round tone. You'll love them.

Congrats! This recent thread is worth reading, in your quest to find the right string... http://ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=33037&...

Don't forget to post some pics. There are a bunch of voyeurs that hang out here that enjoy looking at that type of thing.

My first guitar was a 1117. Great guitar and still going. My nephew has it and it really needs a re-fret. That little sucker has been played.
