So what kind of nut material has been used on the various Ovation and Adamas models over time?

Wall and Hazel. The Adamas 1 had Brazil and the imports have Pee. The real special Adamas have Cashews.

I don't know why I thought I could come out here, and be able to keep my Mt Dew off the screen, and out of my nostrils - off to find the screen cleaner yet again! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To my knowledge... Nylon, Plastic, Brass (some electrics), bone, and I think graphite.

Nancy, put down the dew. I met guitar builder extraordinaire Neal Moser by insulting his nuts in a public forum. I thought the new guitars he built were awesome but to me it looked like the nuts were plastic because they were shiney and took away from the overall look of the guitars. I got a phone call. He actually sourced bone from a local butcher, cured it, and carves and polishes them by hand. Yeah... it's been over 10 years... we still get a LOT of mileage out of that exchange.

I believe according to the Spec's on the 50th Anniversary Editions, that they all have (oh God, how do I say this without getting in trouble???) Bone Nuts.

YOU INSULTED HIS NUTS Miles?????? Now that is Ballsy!!!

What about the 1687? The nut of mine looks rather rough though seems to work well.

We made some bone compensated bridges on a Bridgeport for Ovation back in the 70's...just a few one offs. Still have the B/P's. Half the time they would snap or shatter on the final cut arrrgh. I just remember how bad that bone smelled when we machined it...it was hideous.

So, what is the final word on this? Al says "bone". Beal is sniffing gasoline again. Is it bone on all USA O's and A's???

My Adamas 2080 came with a black TUSQ nut. One of my daughters bought a 2078T in black which also came with a black TUSQ nut.
