If you can get past the lame graphic template someone used in composing this video, it's a nice short set from Campbell and Russell that I hadn't yet seen and thought y'all might like it, too.

Nice video. That is the first Elite with the neckless inlays. There were only two. I have the other.

Glen had two. That one with the neckless inlays and a second one, identical body but an Adamas II neck. He played those (mostly the second once he got it) until he got an 87C in 1988 (I think). Then played that until the late 90's.....

Forgive my ignorance, but what's a neckless inlay?

Dan.. a neckless inlay is basically the same as heatless fire. At least that's what I'm going with until a better answer shows up because I'm as in-the-blind on that one as you are!! 'eh??

Dan, the inlays were based on a necklace owned by Beal's wife. The inlays on Glen's guitar faced one way and on the matching guitar owned by Beal, the face the opposite. On one they point to the base side and on the other, towards the treble side.

@Moody - >>Dan, the inlays were based on a necklace owned by Beal's wife.<<

Oh man, at this rate I can hardly wait until I get to the April 1st page of the OFC calendar.

they all pointed the same way except the 12 fret. Glens are both pointing up and mine are pointing at each other. The other thing about these guitars is they have Adams 2 bridges. Look at the video real close, there is a good shot of it in there.

I just finished reading the book on the Wrecking Crew. Didn't realize Leon was a part of that crowd.

"I just finished reading the book on the Wrecking Crew."

You ought to check out the movie that Denny Tedesco finally got released.

http://wreckingcrewfilm.com/

Which I think is rentable on Youtube and maybe Netflix. It is pretty well done.

Okay, so was it a play on words.. or was it a misspelled word in Beal's post? Still in the dark on that part. Were the inlays in fact based on a "necklace" jewelry design?

Yes, the Wrecking Crew documentary is available on Netflix, at least here in Canada.

Yeah, I saw the movie first. Definitely worth seeing. The book focuses a little deeper in parts of their lives.

The inlays were based on the pendant that was the necklace, neckless, thing hanging round the neck. Triangles with two sides pinched in and the bottom pushed out and a pearl dot in the middle, Look at the guitar closely.

I was just trying to figure out how he was playing "Gentle On My Mind", just the intro, before he goes crazy with those licks that he does. He was such an amazing guitar player.

With a lot of help from Paul Moody and Dave Witko, I was able to highlight the two 1537 proto's that were produced... here.

Nice, Jay. Thanks. Thanks to Moody for helping me with Gentle On My Mind. My main problem was I was starting on a C rather than a D and stepping down with the low strings rather than the higher ones. Glen's solo is intriguing. There's a pretty good instruction video on YouTube.
