Location: Inland Empire | I needed an acoustic for song writing but I didn't know a thing about them aside from Gibson = $$$, so with up to $500 to spend I went my local GC and tried a bunch. The one that sang to me was a used CSE24 (it took a bit of research to find the model # because the GC tag said CC24). I'm pretty averse to buying used especially in GC but the guitar was physically sound, the OP30 worked and playability was far beyond what I would expect for the asking price of $200. Of course I'm not a guitar player either
It is MIK and my research, which led to me finding this forum, indicates that these guitars aren't held in high regard by Ovation aficionados. The discussions and opinions about this were interesting
My primary bass is an Lakland Skyline, which are well liked in bass circles so I am confident that Asian factories can build great playing and sounding instruments as long as it is built to the appropriate price point (Skylines cost about the same as a MIA Fender). Whether that translates to acceptance from the core users is a matter of marketing and the maker not being perceived as an anonymous entity with no relationship with their users.
I'll shut up and play my guitar.
