Hey all,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Does anyone know where I can get inlays installed on a fretboard (currently has none) And what it might cost? Can it be a DIY project?
Nothin crazy, diamonds or dots.

Tough to do good inlay work on a board that's already fretted, so you should plan on a refret job as well. Wild ass guess, maybe $350?

Yes you could do it yourself with a precision router and the proper potting and leveling tools. But I would practice on more than a few sample boards before I attempted my own already built guitar. And you'd also have to be able to do the refret job which probably takes more skill than the inlays. You may be up to it, but no me.

Good luck

Fuzzy - if you want to try it as a DIY, I have a couple of the tools from StewMac - the router guide, the bits and most importantly, the book on how to do it. I'd be happy to lend it to you.

I wouldn't try a DIY inlay. Instead for just a few bucks you can get super thin stick-ons. They're cheap, come in lots of shapes and colors, and if you don't like them just peel them off.
