Mine is an Ovation S771 with a thinline pickup in it. It sounds ok though the low e string is never amplified as loud as the other strings..bummer. Ovation says I should have looked into a new pickup. Shoulda done that when I bought it 3 years ago.

Anyway, are there any obvious differnces in tone between this thinline and say a custom legend pup?

It sounds fine to me, certainly not acoustic like though I haven't really put say a Taylor through its paces plugged in..a guitar I'd love to buy if I had the $1500..yikes.
