Hello everyone. I have been burned once with a guitar purchase on ebay. On Harmony Central, I get a kick out of people describing the conditions of their guitars. Which one do most of you prefer? Harmony Central, or Ebay?...Paul Hebert

you need to find a vendor you trust and develop a relationship. Any single item listing is hit or miss. send e mails ask questions if you are not comfortable don't buy.

I don't like Harmony Central because there are no pics. Also, less fraud control. I'll probably just call Pepiak when I'm ready for my Legend 12.

Note: I didn't even mention the French this time.

Harmony Central is irrelevant in this instance as they are owners reveiws, not descrpitions of items for sale by their owners. Also gear on Harmony Central gets at least a 9.5 for everything. Harmony Central's user reveiws are a classic case of the lunatics taking over the asylum. Ebay is a different ball-game. If you are not happy with the description ask intelligent, informed questions. If you are not happy with the answers don't bid. If you feel unsure but bid anyway and get shafted, ebay's policy is caveat emptor, despite what they may lead you to beleive. If someone follows those basic rules and still gets burned, they're probably too stupid to be using ebay.

Paul T., I think he was talking about the classifieds on Harmony Central, not the gear reviews.

Wasn't aware of Harmony Central classifieds, you learn something new every day. Either way the advice still applies. Regardless of which website you use, knowledge is power. Ask for pics, do your research and ask as many questions of the seller as necessary in an attempt to establish if a) the description is accurate & b) he's not a scam artist. If it smells bad stay clear. Ebay sellers feedback profiles are usually, but not always, fairly reliable indicators. I've completed countless deals on ebay with negligible problems. The one major problem I did have, with a shiny-bowl D-Balladeer got fixed by this small-time thug I happen to know in SoCal. I'll be picking it up on Friday

Come now, Paul T., would you really describe Pee-eye as a small time thug?

And I'll bet he drives a Checker sedan to blend in with the surroundings. (My brother had a Checker franchise in Conneaut, OH some years ago)
