This question has probably been asked and answered before, but here goes anyway ...

How many 1768-7LTD Book Elites were made?

6 strings, the most were these. I think maybe 100ish. the others less. Service can tell us.

If somebody really contacts the service for it, please ask as well how many longnecks and basses have been built.
Thanks, Kurt

Thank you Steve, but I already have one, a book longneck.
Best regards, Kurt

My money would bet that the long neck and the mandocello were the 2 rarest of the book elites. I betting less than 10 total for the both of them.

There was a guestimate thread a few years ago:

Elite 100 +/-
Mando 25 +/-
Viper 25 +/-
Mandocello 5 +/-
Longneck 5 +/-
12 string 5 +/-
Bass 1

How different are the 'book' 1768's to the deep bowl 1768 that I own? (from the year before)

I love it and it doesn't look that different to the book elites, but then again, I'm not that observant.

Hey Tupp,

You're well on the way to another 5000 posts already. Got your next screen name lined up yet, or you gonna go the way of the others and keep changing it mid stream?

Book elite has:
1. abalone body trim
2. abalone fretboard edging
3. abalone trim around headstock

I guess if you like abalone, you'd like the book elite. I also think they might have done something the color. The whole book series has a "golden honey" color to them. Martin calls it "aging toner". Maybe this is just coincidence.

Sound-wise the book elite is nothing to get excited about. Just plain vanilla elite, kind of muffled. Plugged in it is pretty nice. I only bought it because it was on the cover of the book. Other than that it wouldn't interest me very much.
