He states there is "some minor wear around the epaulets". If you take a look at the close-ups of the epaulets, you'll see that the top has been badly broken and badly re-glued. He makes no mention of this in his narrative.

My guess is that it sat on a stand in direct sunlight, causing the paint to blister. Carbon fibre is very tough stuff. To have cracked the top would have destroyed the entire guitar. I work w/ FRG laminates everyday. I'm even toying w/ the idea of laying up my own top just to see if I can and what it would sound like. Need a sacificial guitar to make that a reality. (Where are the remains of teh dropped kicked Clebrity mascot?? :D ) My money says that those cracks are in the finish paint. I still don't see the attaction for this guitar. It should be near pristine to have bids at this level. The one last week went for just over $2000 and it was in much better condition, near perfect. $1700 for something that can't be made right (w/o doubling your $, if at all), is insane. Blues

Ya gotta give this guy credit for posting those pictures, claiming "Excellent Original Condition" with only "slight wear" and invoking Gruhn's name. He's got stones...and it looks like it is going to sell...if that ain't his alter ego at high bid.

I e-mailed him and asked him about the glue oozing out around the epaulets (which you can see when you use the "closer view" option. Amazingly, he denies it. Well who knows ... maybe I'm just seeing things in my old age, or perhaps all that crap is oozing out from my eyelids instead.

Could be glue from a repair job if the wooden epualets started to lift. Hard to say. I can't understand why this auction is going so high considering the conditon of this guitar. The red Adamas I went for $2050 and was in A+ condition. Hard to figure people out sometimes. Blues
