I am looking into upgrading into an Adamas. I am having 2 problems ... 1. I can't seem to find any around to test-drive. and 2. I can't for the life of me find any good info on the actual tonal differences between the various (new or old)models. I just want to know which models play and sound the best ... Is that too much to ask???? S-o-m-e-b-o-d-y H-e-l-p M-e-e-e-e-e!

I can't help because I a/b'd a CVT against an LX Balladeer for 2 hours at GC one day because the brand new CVT was $700 out the door with case..I am not kidding. I even gave a heads up here on the forum.

To my ears the LX won so I didn't bite.

BUT..

My friend won the Adamas 1 or is it Adamas 2? Reissue at the OFC Tour. It's the blue one with deep bowl, and walnut carved headstock and bridge. His has the Op pro though.

I got to tell you, if I needed to buy a new Adamas new right now..hands down that would be the one I would buy. It sounds fantastic unplugged. Very deep and woody and loud. It has a HUGE fat neck which I love. And, for some reason the deep bowl sits on the leg and even sits flat on the belly(sort of) much better than my midbowl S771. Go figure.

That's my observation but it is well worth a look.

Oh, my friend played it outdoors on a hot humid sunny day a few weeks ago. He sweated like a waterfall. It was totally freaking me out seeing the top of the Adams get soaked because it doesn't have a gloss top, it feels textured. I hope it is ok. LOL.

Look for a "textured" top... You won't be disapointed. One "strum" in a side by side will tell you that you have found the right one.

The lid "lifted up" on a piano is still one of the best discriptions.

As for "test drives"... The 06 tour might be the best / only way to try several.

One of the early Adamas 1 or 2s would do you fine, s/n pre 10,000. Or one of the new ones mentioned here would work as well.

That last digit is the color...in this case, obviously, blue.
Nice guitar for a great price...you won't be sorry. This will also ease the pain of selling your 1537!
