I used the Dampit, and am continuing to use it until the weather gets better. I tied a short string to the end of the Dampit that has the clip on it, and put the whole thing into the guitar through one of the soundholes. The string was loosely tied to the 1st string so I could remove the Dampit easily. It worked out well.

Dangle it on a rubber band or let go free range inside the bowl. They fit through the larger hole real well. Did I mention it was cheap?

For a buck or 2 you can make a dozen or more humidifiers. I like to use a soap dish size container with several holes for my guitar case on my guitars without the larger sound holes like my ES-335. Works great.

One is basically just a soft green styrofoam that they stick flowers (attached to wooden "picks") into to make things like big funeral hearts and such. The other (and the one you WANT) has the trade name of "Oasis". Comes in the same basic shape/size as a brick. Cut yourself a piece to size and submerse it in water for about 15-30mins. Holds more water than a sponge. The only problem with it is that the outside will dry and the center will retain the moisture. If you walk into a local flower shop and ask for a piece of it, they'll probably give it to you gratis . . . .
