I was exercising every bit of restraint I could muster. It still was a steal for somebody. Did anyone here get it? Adamas I

Since the auction ended really early in the morning, I planned to wake up and bid. Before I went to sleep I played my 08C in the dark and placed it in the stand next to the bed. After playing it I realized it was a dumb idea. I think I was just mesmerized at the idea of owning a red Adamas...especially at such a low price.

Sometimes it's important to stop and realize just how lucky we are and not think that "just one more" will make us happier. An 08 for an old Admasas 1? I wouldn't make that trade. And I'm not a huge fan of the black 08 w/ the gold trim that looks like Zorro's hat. But it's a better built, more useful guitar, that probably sounds almost as good as the old Adamii. And if you give it time, it might just sound better......

It's funny that after being blessed with having owned so many awesome guitars, I sometimes find myself contemplating decisions over superficial things like colors and broccoli-carved headstocks. ...and even things as silly as a signiture. I'm really not wealthy enough to be thinking like that.

I was on the road playing music for most of '76 - '83, and then from '87 - '93...the Adamas guitars were out but I never had a chance to play one, and was not near the big stores where one might have been...however, from the ads in the guitar mags, I was completely taken with the looks...but to be honest, I really could not afford one then either so I suppose it was just as well...I did not own my first Adamas until 1996 with an 1885-5... I did own and play quite a few Ovations and really loved them, esp. the 12 strings...still do and I own two Ovation 12's...I never had a chance to play a 1688 until I played Woz's '79 -8 at the tour in '07...I was hooked then and there and still am...for me they are the ultimate 12 string and I am fortunate to own several and just recently replaced the 1688-5 I sold several years ago in a moment of weakness...There is something about the old Adamas guitars that I really like...That said, my '09 OFCII is truly a fabulous guitar...so I guess it's whatever floats your boat... In the end, its what you love and use...Life is short...be happy and enjoy it...and if possible take advantage of the crazy low prices...I doubt they will stay that way for very long...
