A friend from OT told me that the bracing on the 2 RI adamas 1687 and 1187 don't have the same bracing. Same pattern but different sizes of each strip of wood. Anyone know the reason why ?

The 1187 bracing is lighter. Lighter bracing - better sound. It's that easy. The #47 reissue is the best sounding Adamas I know. I assume that only the originals sound better (whatever "better" means).

Lighter bracing - better sound

Karl,
I would not exactly say that but rather, lighter bracing, different sound : higher fundamental soundboard frequency, more overtones, but I never play both just one after the other to compare. I will probably do it this week, I'll give you my filling after that...
Bernard.

If you line up an OFC Guitar, a 47RI and an Original Slothead you will conclude that they are A+, A++, and A+++ guitars. Just my opinion.

Dave, is that perspective from when you play them or somebody sitting across from you playing them at you? Same strings on all?

Well SWMBO can tell the difference between the two from the next room.
Same strings & unplugged, she says the 47RI has more higher chimey tone whereas the OFC has more of a deep Bass resonance.

Both. Same as Tim said. OFC has a bigger bottom end. But they are all pretty close.

I should have got one of those 47RIs just to see if SWMBO could tell the difference, I guess. Other than one is red and one is blue. I don't know if I could tell the difference among my guitars if I was blindfolded, and I think I have quite a variety.

from the other room, in the closet, blindfolded, or hanging from the ceiling...you can tell the difference between the 47RI and the OFC...just as you can tell them from a 1687.

I really couldn't tell the difference between my OFC, your's or your 47RI when I was at your place last summer, Tony. I must admit, however, that I was a bit overwhelmed by so many guitars that I couldn't move without tripping over another one.
