Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | So I ordered some airlocks from Al, and they came in yesterday. For those not familiar with them, airlocks are rubber plugs that fit in the soundholes of the multi-hole guitars like Adamas' and Elites. You can plug as few or as many holes as you'd like. They kill feedback when you're plugged in, but they also change the sound of your guitar. I tried them on the Elite 12 I got from Karen, and when I plugged all the holes on the treble side the bass was incredible! Then, just for the heck of it, I plugged all the holes on my Adamas. It STILL sounded good - almost like my old 1617 Legend. I'm going to experiment with them on my new 1680 when it comes in on Monday. Anyway, anybody who has a multi-hole guitar and they haven't tried these yet, you ought to get in touch with Al. WELL worth the price. Thanks Al! |

Location: Miami | Now THAT's awesome feedback (in the good way!). I've always ranted and raved over the boominess that comes with bass side only epaulets. Now everyone can enjoy the boom! |

Location: Utah | I've been wondering what to do for an airlock with the teardrop swoosh on my 2080. Something I didn't even consider until plugging it in the first time. |

I'm assuming we're talking acoustic sound here. |

I'm assuming we're talking acoustic sound here. It is both perceived (you can feel it in the guitar's body) and actual (you can hear it when someone else is playing).
Yes, we're talking acoustic sound here, but it also affects the plugged in sound.
I have not played with the airlocks as all of my O's are bass side only, but having heard (and perceived ;-) the difference, I have to recommend these. |

Location: south east Michigan | If there is a monitor in front of me that't a problem for sure. And on a cramped open-mic set-up where eveything is all cramped up close. And even if there is space to move around, if I have any type of volume I have to be careful. But the airlocks take care of any problem in any situation.
I think the UTE has this problem because of the deeeep bowl and the textured top. Like I said before... that textured top is so active it's almost like speaker cone material. When it is feeding back and you put your palm behind the bridge to calm it down you can feel just how much the top is moving.
The real answer is that if I play out plugged in is to go with the AD-II or the EliteT. Or maybe... the VXT?
But when Brian & I go busking tommorrow, it's the UTE for sure. That is one guitar that can really project and fill an open space. |
