 | I bought this new in 2004 and it has remained mostly unplayed, so it is in great (like showroom) shape. I am advertising this locally (near Sacramento) on CL (https://post.craigslist.org/manage/4003430520). Here are some photos:

I am asking $1795.  (Is that reasonable?)  Thanks for looking.   Tim Davis. CA |

 | That's an amazing guitar. I'm lucky enough to own one. Of all the "re-issues" that Ovation has done, THIS is the one that probably surpasses the original by the widest margin. Absolutely stunning sound and looks to match. Good luck with the sale. At your asking price somebody is getting a bargain. |

Could you explain this? I have an opportunity to buy a 1981 version... in what ways are the re-issue superior, in your opinion?

And I don't know how but the SOUND is amazingly good. I have/had 1719 from every decade and to my ears, hands, and eyes the CM-30 is best of the bunch. That's not to say the 1981 isn't a very nice one. I'm sure it is.

 | The reissue is bearclaw spruce, too. I don't think the originals were. |

 | It took awhile, but my Ovation Model 1719-30CM 30th Anniversary "Commemorative" Custom Legend sold yesterday (05/08/2014) for very close to my asking price. (A good deal for the buyer, I think, but I was not playing it--a shame.) Thanks to the buyer and all responders to this post.

 | Those bearclaw spruce are spectacular in person. I can't see the photos here, but drooled over one in a music store about 6 years ago. |
