The music died around the Norseman household the day my Legend checked into the hopsital :( . It appears the crack she suffered a few weeks back, did indeed run through the sound board. She is in good hands though, her surgeon has come highly recommended. My repairman specializes in violin, cello, and guitar repair. He plans on gluing the crack, using violin bracing on the inside (if he can work around a fan brace that runs with the crack), and rubbing out the finish on the surface to helpblend in the repair. I am concerned the bracing may effect her voice, but he assures me he has done this procedure countless times, and that the violin braces he will use, will have no audible effect on her voice  . All I know is I won't rest until she's back in my arms. My Balladeer is alright, but the connection is not there as with my Legend. Although she tries hard, there's just no chemistry :( . I sure feel lost without my Legend. I find myself spending more time with my wife lately  Man I miss my Legend ;) ! Norse(just kidding honey)man1

I've got a 67 or 68 Deluxe Balladeer that's in my care of a few more days before I ship it to Ovation. Paul T. bought it on ebay from somebody here in SoCal and I picked it up for him. It's go a wood crack running from the bridge to the end of the face and somebody repaired it. It seems stabile and sounds like a dream. It's a good reminder that Ovations were originally known for their great sound, not just because you can plug them in. Your Legend will come out of the hospital feeling just fine.

Sounds like somewhere between $50.00-$75.00 to get her fixed (actually, that's a lot cheaper than it was to get my wife fixed :D ). I'll keep you posted as to the results. In the meantime, I'm getting better aquainted with my 1711 Balladeer. By the way, of the many wonderful qualities my beautiful wife possesses, one of her greatest is a sense a humor. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I know she doesn't visit this site either :D . Peace, Norse(...at least I don't think she does  I guess time, or rat poison in my soup, will tell)man1

I LOVED the sound. Now that I've been reading the postings on this site for a few months I might have to convice my wife that I need to try an Adamas. Of course in a few years.

It is a great guitar, but because I have an older Adamas, I just can't seem to get use to the Custom Balladeer. Once you own an Adamas, its hard to use just about any other acoustic in my opinion. I am lucky, my Balladeer has not one scratch on its top. It has the white top so any crack would really look bad. It spends alot of its time in the case, seems I just can't put my old Adamas down..Paul Hebert

I just got a call from my local music store and they informed my 1712 Custom Balladeer will be yet another week in the store. (Check my posting elsewhere for details) All I have to play at present is flea market special nylon string Goya. It's keeping me sane, well at least so far. Maybe I will try my mandolin again... Take care

I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, my computer is down at home. Now that I am "at work" ;) I can resond. Norse(enjoyed my Balladeer this weekend. I think the more I play her, the more I like her. Or is it kinda like that stupid 70's song "...if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with!"?)man1
