NOTE: This is not my guitar nor is it my ad:

"Ovation fans I have a pristine 1968 shiny back guitar. You will never find another in this like new condition. It comes with original case and the original brochure. This guitar is a collectors dream Come true."

That looks a lot like the shiny bowl that was for sale in Florida. It was in immaculate condition also. I think he finally got down to this range, possibly a little lower.

I really couldn't say whether they're they same guitars. This one is for sale in Costa Mesa, CA.

I do like the look of the SB and wish I had the dough to spend.

They either got their phone number wrong or its a scam. Costa Mesa used to have the area code 714, but it changed to 949 some years ago. Maybe a cell? Or just maybe its a scam since 741 area codes are not in the official registry but are associated with a lot of scams, phishing, and unscrupulous telemarketers.

Caveat Emptor.

"but are associated with a lot of scams,"
Maybe that is why those pictures look familiar...

I live close to where this guitar is supposedly located, so if anyone is interested in it and is serious about buying it and wants to confirm that it's not a scam, I would not mind driving over to take a look.

You're a good man, Dan. Just don't be carrying a wad of cash when you show up at the meet site.

The shiny bowls are very cool ... I had two originals and let them go, but I do have a K-1111RI and it's got something special in it. My other "shiny bowl" is a RedFlameT, which is a whole 'nother level of coolness.

Yeah, I know what you mean about not carrying a wad of cash. heh heh...

The guitars you mention sound cool. I'm a real sucker for great sounding, unusual-looking guitars.

This made me go take out my Dad's 68 DB.
I sure love those shiney bowls but man these orange felt cases are hideous

Not so sure this is accurate. I found one this year for a little less than 1//2 of what he is asking. I shipped to Ovation and they polished the bowl, soundboard, dressed the frets and it looks like it just came off the rack...but when Kim got it, he remarked that it was the nicest 67 that he had seen come through there.

This year alone, I have seen three pristine examples of a 67 on the secondary market. 2 of the 3 appear to still be the property of the seller. I did speak with the the owner of the Florida K1111 and he stated that since he couldn't get what he was asking, he was going to give it to his son.

Costa Mesa is still 714. It's south OC that's 949. But 741 is not a valid area code. So either the seller is dyslexic or it's bogus....
