Congratulations, Masos! And welcome to the club, as well.

I grabbed a Legend LX a bit ago - just showed up on my doorstep yesterday. The buyer says he bought it from his dad, who bought it used. Seemed like a lot of history for a guitar manufactured last year...
First thing I did was check the label. There had obviously been an FRG sticker in it, it was removed and the residue sanded off the bowl. No mention of it in the ad.

However, I did check the entire guitar from stem to stern, and I can find absolutely no flaws anywhere. A very pretty trans burgundy. Not sure yet whether I like it more than my 6778LX. Just another different flavor!
But it does mean my 1867-4 has to go. :(

Waskel,
I think I really need a Legend to fill out the collection a little bit, but as usual the timing isn't good. Take it over to my daughter at University of Portland and let her use it for awhile until she decides she can't afford it. Then I'll rescue her and buy it from you. It will take my wife about 30 seconds to figure out that I cooked up this scheme.

Great to have you in the club! I saw that for sale early thismorning and hoped someone worthy would snatch it up at that price. Enjoy! John <>{

Sure, Mark. If you don't tell I won't.
It really is a fine guitar, and it was my first 'high-end' Ovation. Bought it new and babied it, no nicks, scratches, dings.
I've used it extensively at church, it's just that I find myself playing more and more acoustically lately and really am liking the deeper bowl acoustic sound. Plus I'm running out of wall space...

Waskel,
Now that the second kid is out of the house (only 2 weeks ago) my wife is looking to sell our big house and go smaller. I am thinking I will finally have room to expand my guitar and car collection. I also would prefer a deep bowl. I got the Balladeer just to try a good shallow bowl and love it. My daughter in Portland just started playing this summer, but I doubt she continues now that she's busy in college. I made sure she took her Roland keyboard and it fit in her dorm room. She's a great pianist and singer, etc., etc., brag, brag. It would be fun to link up in Portland sometime, since I have so many connections there.

Got the 1771 LX about a week ago and love it. The guitar is spotless and as far as I can tell, it was not a FRC. Even the case looks brand new. I am pretty sure that it still has the original D'Addario strings on it.

I like the onboard tuner. It sounded good but I double checked it with my normal tuner and it's right on.

Like I said before, it's my first Ovation (first acoustic as well), any special care instructions?

Thanks,
Mike

Congrats. In Atlanta you shouldn't have to worry about lack of humidity. Ovations are as easy or easier to take care of than other acoustics. You don't have to worry about scratching the back as much. Play it as much as you can. If you don't use it for awhile, take the battery out. My 99 tends to drain the battery when it is parked and it is easier to take the battery out than it is to get it fixed. Fortunately, I don't have that problem on my old ones with the battery inside.
