Location: Blue Ridge Mountains | Using a mandolin style rt hand strum is a wonderful 12 string effect...Also doubletracking using a 12 string capo'd up high is another great recording trick that nearly always leaves the listeners asking "Wow, what is that?"...
I love my six string guitars, but my 12's are special...a must have in the performers toolbox... |

Location: NJ | A good 12-string capo-ed at the 5th or 7th fret is like a "poor man's mando".
Just make sure y'use a good 12-string capo (like a Shubb) "up there", or else it CAN be very frustrating t'get it to sound good . . . |

Only ones I use: I think I have around 8. 5 in my guitar essential pak (picks, capo's, slide, tuner,etc) and the rest in guitar cases...my favorite 12 string Shubb is an old brass one from the late 80's or early 90's... |

Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | I went on youtube and found him. The link you posted said "El Condor Pasa", and that video is gone, but I did listen to Classical Gas. The gentleman is good. I have to admit, I like the sound of a six string better, but it's pretty cool to see someone who is obviously classicaly trained do that on a twelve string. Thanks. |
