It's been a while since I visited Kaki King's website:

http://www.kakiking.com/

Upon entering it launches a video called "The Surface Changes" which is a really stunning piece of video and guitar playing.

I really like this multi-media show that she's doing these days. It looks like she's going to tour Europe soon. There's a last show in NYC this Saturday...maybe I can persuade the wife to go to NYC this weekend.

She really ought to come up to Connecticut and do a show sometime (hint hint Dave). There are several places like New Haven near Yale or Jorgensen up at UConn where I'm sure she would draw a crowd.

I admire the technique.
I can listen in very small doses. (half a song maybe?)
And the presentation is very special and inventive.
.
But I'd never make it though an entire concert.

Yeah, not my style. But then again, neither is flamenco, belly dancing, curling, opera, ballet, fruitcake, bagpipes, etc. Nevertheless, there are experts in just about anything...

I'm not into the tapping much, either, but I went to a Preston Reed concert years ago, not knowing who he was, and really enjoyed the concert. I bought a couple of his albums that I never listen to. I have one of Kaki's albums that I listen to occasionally.

Bob, I also went to a flamenco show in Spain and thought it was great. I appreciate good guitar playing in different genres than what I would listen to, except for heavy metal. I've even grown to like country music, which used to be on the bottom of my list until Rap came along.

I think that (c)Rap music caused many people to appreciate real music in general.

If Kaki ever gets around to doing an acoustic cover of "Death Of Samantha" by Yoko Ono, I might actually care.

When I watched some of the videos and noticed the white guitar I was wondering if this is some new signature guitar, but it seems she just got one painted:

I think that guitar is just painted so that the light-show can shine on it.
Plus, I think that "dot" on the headstock is a hole where the guitar fits into it's rack for the show.

I think...

I like bagpipes, they tend to make me paint myself blue and go commando wearing only a sporran while I swing a claymore in the moonlight.

Thanks for the kind words everybody.

Jimmer, in response to your question about upcoming shows, she's headlining a festival in Kingston N.Y. in early October:

http://opositivefestival.org/9297/sondre-lerche-kaki-king-to-headli...

If I'm not mistaken, Kingston is pretty much due west of Hartford and fairly close to the state line. Hopefully, you'll be able to check it out.

Old Man Arthur and d'ovation, you are correct in identifying the white guitar as her Adamas 1581kk. She uses it for all live performances as well as commercially produced videos. However, she told me that she is very pleased with her new Ovation signature model, and described it as a "really nice guitar".

Best to all--
