How much does this suck ...

Loooong trip to Block Island. Redeye flight to Newark, fly to Providence. Rent a car, stock up at the Super Shop N Shop, drive to the Ferry Landing. Cruise over to Block Island and find the house we rented. Long trip but well worth it.

I can't connect my camera to this laptop, but man oh man you should see this place. Big house up on a bluff, just beautiful. The owner is a 30-ish single guy who lives in the basement apartment and rents out the upper two floors of the house. While showing us around he noticed the OFC luggage tag on my suitcase and asked if I was into guitars. Turns out he is a player and has 2 Martins and a Taylor in the basement apt. We get to talking and he just gives me a D-41 to keep with me upstairs and play while we're here. How cool is THAT?

Wednesday at "Club Soda" is open mic, so we're going to work up something and play. Hey Mike, saw Paynes Dock. Not far from where we are (is anything?) we're on High Street. Anyway, this is a vacation I really needed. The kids came over from Montauk for the week so that's nice as well. Weather is perfect and we're really digging it. Just worked out cool that I've now got a nice guitar to play while I'm here.

Yeah, but isn't there a saying that goes something like, "You can run, but you can't hide..."? He's not out of the woods yet.... ;)
Have a great vacation, Tuppy--I'm so glad you've got something to play; guitar withdrawal is the pits.

No fair picking on Cliff when he's down in Florida
Dave, you didn't bring a uke?
Otherwise it sounds real nice except I'll bet the Mahtin has a 1 11/16 neck.

Sound nice...
Y'know how people say that they are "in the middle of nowhere"?
Now Block Island, that's in the middle of Nowhere.
Makes Nantucket seem down right Urban.
Makes me down right Jealous!

Yeah 1-11/16. I figure it'll be good practice for what should be waiting for me when I return to AZ (shhhh!).

Dave;
(typing this from DaytonaBeach - lotsa' loud cars down here) Just got off the phone w/UncahBeal who tole me you were out there . . .

BlockIsland is one of my ('nuther) favorite places!!!

Make sure you stop by DeadEyeDick's and the MoheganHouse (MicroBrewery right across from the ferry - we spent a weekend upstairs from there - cool place!!)

Havin' a good time down here.
Ridin' my bike on the beach & learning to play golf.
Went to go see fireworks and a free Drifters concert at the OceanWalk on the Fourth. One guy from the band (actually, the LAST "original" Drifter) DIED two hours before the show (the show "went ON"), and the barge that the fireworks were loaded onto got "swamped" by a 5' wave, so the fireworks were a "no go", but there's LOTS of rum & smoked shrimp down here, so it's fun.

Packin' up t'night for the LONG DriveHome tomorrow . . . .

Tawk t'ya Monday (I'm still "off").

Why am I not surprised. Just how long have you been a member of the "Guitar of the Month" club? :)

Enjoy the time away!

I find I can't switch between the narrow and wide and so everything I own that gets played is wide.
Dave, is this what I think it is that is 1 11/16? or have you gotten something else? My new toy is posted in the for sale section under Collings and it's got 1 13/16. Now that should be comfortable.
Enjoy the island.
