Oklahoma Vintage Guitars has a couple of, what they claim to be, FRG 1868LXs listed on eBay. Their ad is a little confusing because they use the Legend word acouple of times, but the pictures of an elite and sure look like the bowl could be super shallow like an 1868 would be. I thought that the mothership wasn't gonna make any ss bowl LX's. Any insights?

That would have to be a mistake. Unless it was a custom order, all LX Models are Mid-Depth. I'm not aware of an 1868 LX. I Don't think such a monster exists.

I just called Bobby at Vintage Guitar. He said it is an Elite and he would correct the ad. He also said it was SS. I was in their store last night, but had limited time and was looking at mandolins. Call their toll free number, they will be glad to talk to you. I also told Bobby about the OFC. Maybe he will join.

They did have one of the red flame painted legends. Top and bowl painted, beautiful instrument! Also one of the patriot guitars 1776?

They have an Ovation room. Lots of O's. Unfortunately no Elite T's, at least they did not have them out. I think they had just gotten their shipment in. Last time I was there about 10 days ago they only had 6 or 7 O's. Evidently, they sell a lot of Ovations.

Anyone who goes through Ok City, they are on I-40 west of town.

New user, here....

I drive by "Oklahoma Vintage Guitar" (aka bestpriceguitar.com) on occasion, so I supppose I could stop in an take a look.

However, I googled for it and found it on a couple of web sites based in Japan and Italy. For instance, look here.

Welcome jokelahoma.
It is good to see another fellow Oklahoman on the OFC. Not too many of us here. Do you live in Ok City?

At the last OFC gathering, Rick Hall stated that there wouldn't be any super shallow bowl LX's built for the US market. There were some built for the overseas market.

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I live in OKC. IIRC, Waurika is somewhere south of Duncan near the Red River, right?

Why don't you contact the seller and ask him if you can retract your bid?

It can't hurt to ask. It's the honorable thing to do. If he releases you from your bid then good. If he doesn't and you end up buying the guitar, well, I suspect that you'd find that you like it more than the supershallow bowl. Very comfortable to play and a great sound, acoustically and plugged in.

But it doesn't hurt to ask.

jokelahoma,
Waurika is directly south of Duncan on hiway 81. My son and his family live in Yukon, so when we go to the city, we go out I-40 and then come on home through Mustang to the turnpike to Chickasha.

Of course, the 1816LX's that Oklahoma Vintage has for sale were a lot more attractive when he had them at $999 then whaere he has them now - I wonder if he'll be able to sell FRGs for $1399?
