First of all, you don't need to pay $2,500, at least not now.

It is a great guitar, maintaining the Custom Legend traditions of the past with several modern improvements. I have four.

300 made, 120 for domestic market, 180 foreign market - understand the company sold them all by about the 2nd week of February. There are some new ones out there in dealers but not many.

It is my favorite of the many others I have.

What questions do you have?

thank you Tony......
the Pre-amp is new...the OP-PRO....with chromatic tuner....i tried it at a guitar store and it was kind of hard to tune....is it effective?

the craftmanship....i never saw it up close...supposedly with many nice details on it...right?

the sound? full and rich sound from the deep bowl?? do you need to plug it in for good sound?

finger board easy to play?
thanks for your comments

The OP-Pro on the 30th is an excellent pre-amp. Tuner LED on the OP-Pro is a nice addition and very easy.

I bought two new from Al (one of the two sponsors of the OFC. Bought a demo from Al and a demo from a member of the OFC.

At this point, the difficulty is finding a new one...my local Guitar Center just got one in a couple of weeks ago. Suggest that you go for the best deal. Don't believe factory has any more demos to release. Advantage of new is the warranty. New should be about $1,750, demo should be about $1,500-$1,600. Either way, it should look and feel new (demo doesn't mean damage.)

AAA bear claw spruce, ebony fingerboard, bone nut, carved walnut bridge, abalone, brown deep bowl, etc. Absolutely beautiful (got some pics in the gallery.) Wonderful whether acoustic or amplified. I have six other Custom Legends - my wife knows it is a 30th from the other room.

As I said, I have four. Feel strong enough about them that I will keep one, one for my daughter, and the other two for trade or sale down the road.

Alas, last time I talked to Al he didn't have a new or demo. However, he is definitely the dealer to check with first. I have bought four new and several others from him in 2004 AND saved money on each of them over other dealers or internet sellers.

Here's the one on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33029&item=2370623931&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V

If they're selling it with a warranty, then it's still a good deal.

Musiciansfriend and many other internet sites are authorized dealers.

Huber-Breese here in Michigan still has one. It is a wonderful guitar. Plays like as smoothe as "budda".

I've played the one at Elderly, it plays well and sounds good. Too much "gingerbread" (and money) for my taste, though.
