That Magnum sounded nice!

I must say that my FL sounds more mellow than that one. Probably strings...

2ifbyC - it could be the strings, but that video was done with my dinky little Fuji F100 point and shoot camera w/built in condenser mic. All my videos sound kind of thin to me.

TJR - Thanks... Glad you enjoyed it!

Hey, some really nice talent up in the NW corner again. Bill, be sure and attend the next NW Gathering. Maybe I'll bring my Folklore and we'll compare. You can play both and I'll listen.

Just checking my stats at my youtube and found people linking to my vids from here. Thanks a lot for the comments! I'll have a look around the site here when I get a chance.

If you'd like to hear more of noodling on the Magnum, click the link in my sig. It's an experimental project and all sounds are generated by the Magnum (though often heavilly processed).

Cheers,
Owen

Hell, my Maggie doesn't sound like that!

...but it's a fair bet that's because I'm the berk playing it. :D

Lovely work, Owen. The only thing that little amp can't reveal is the bottomless pit of seismic low end these basses can deliver.

Thanks guys.

FWIW my strings are at least seven years old and the amp is a ten watt $40 job! How good does that make the guitar that it can sound so good in those parameters? Best bass ever IMO.

Re the sound - I played a few Magnum 1's when I bought this one (circa '94) and this one sounded the best by far. It may be a freak.

And you should have heard it with new strings through my old (long gone) Ampeg 8x10 fridge! Scary!

Hi again. You lot inspired me to update my youtube vids today, you can view the result at...

http://pointmoot.posterous.com/orange-whip-for-ovation-magnum-1-ste...
or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dI_4dwDlqMQ

Note this has NOTHING to do with the experimental solos project. It's a fairly straight (but challenging) piece.

Cheers!
